Valencia Basket had to battle hard to head into the international break with a victory after defeating Lointek Gernika Bizkaia 67–68 on their always challenging home court. The visitors led throughout the game and even built a 20-point advantage, but a late comeback from the hosts gave them one last shot to win. A strong final defensive play, allowing only a forced three-pointer from María Salvadores, enabled the taronja side to seal their 19th win of the season.
The orange-clad team started ahead thanks to a strong opening run and relied on the scoring of Leonie Fiebich to build an early lead. The Basque side responded and managed to tie the game at the start of the second quarter. Valencia’s reaction came quickly, and led by the German forward—who scored 13 points in the first half—they produced a 0–11 run to regain control. They also tightened their defense, allowing only two points over six minutes to go into halftime in front.
Valencia Basket came out stronger after the break and pushed their lead to a maximum of twenty points. That cushion helped them stay ahead during a cold spell from three-point range in the third quarter, which allowed the home team to close the gap to seven heading into the final period. Awa Fam stepped up at the start of the last quarter to spark Valencia’s offense and protect the lead. However, a final surge from the Basque team turned the game into a nail-biter that ultimately went Valencia’s way.
